Working as a member of the church’s Interior team and in conjunction with Ralph Allen Associates we were involved in the interior design, furniture selection and procurement for the church’s new extension to the existing building. The building was awarded a commendation in St Alban’s Civic Society Building Awards. The extension comprises the main general purpose hall at the front, storage, large kitchen, the foyer, toilets, office, and garden room. The hall includes a screen, multi-media projection and sound. The spacious foyer includes reception desk, casual seating and entrance into the original church. “Having risen from the ashes (literally!) of the former timber building, it provides a welcoming, informal environment for church and community activities. The spaces created are light and airy; materials and finishes are practical, but not forbidding, and all has been executed to an excellently high standard.”- St Albans Civic Society Committee.
"I know when I was a kid we used to throw the football out of a first floor window. We never went to a play space; the play space began immediately. Play was inspired, not organised."Louis Kahn – Architect
